Daring Cooks Challenge: Brunswick Stew April 15, 2010

The 2010 April Daring Cooks challenge was hosted by Wolf of Wolf’s Den. She chose to challenge Daring Cooks to make Brunswick Stew. Wolf chose recipes for her challenge from The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook by Matt Lee and Ted Lee, and from the Callaway, Virginia Ruritan Club.

I have to say I was really looking forward to this challenge this month.  For one thing, my mom use to tell me stories about growing up and how they would go to the local firehouse and get Brunswick stew.  Since we lived in Texas, we didn’t have easy access to homemade or even canned Brunswick stew.  Which at any opportune moment, mostly when we would visit my Nanny in Virginia, mom would grab a couple of cans of Brunswick stew and some spoon bread mix at the local grocery store.
