This weeks Tuesdays With Dorie was chosen by Jennifer of Cooking for Comfort.  She picked Dorie’s Nutty Swirly Chocolatey Sour Cream Bundt Cake, which is located on page 182 in Baking: From My Home to Yours.

To pass the time yesterday on my day off, I decided that I would bake up this recipe only to discover yet again that I was out of butter.  I called Mike at work to see if he could pick me up some butter on his way home, because at that moment I decided that I had no energy to leave the house.  It probably had something to do with working 6 days straight and being pregnant…it kinda takes its toll on you.  I was actually suppose to work 7 but someone graciously offered to take my shift 🙂  Thanks Mallory. Tuesdays With Dorie: Lemon Poppyseed Muffins January 18, 2011

It is bad that I actually made this recipe on time and didn’t post because I couldn’t take a picture yesterday because it was raining and cloudy outside?

This weeks Tuesdays with Dorie was chosen by Betsy of A Cup of Sweetness.  She picked Dorie’s Lemon Poppyseed Muffins which are located on page 10 in Baking: From My Home to Yours.  This muffins were really easy to make.  I ended up making them in GIANT size because I was in a Giant muffin mood 🙂  I baked them for 30 minutes at 400°F, they browned a little too much on the bottoms but since I used cupcake papers it didn’t matter.  I think next time if I do them that size again I will bake them on 350°F for 30 minutes.  The texture of the muffin was a nice tight, dense crumb, reminiscent of a pound cake.  The flavor was nice and lemony and I am thinking that the icing would be a nice addition but I was being lazy 🙂

 

Tuesdays With Dorie: Chocolate Madeleines sans Fluff Filling January 11, 2011

This weeks Tuesdays With Dorie was chosen by Margo of Effort to Deliciousness.  She picked Dorie’s Chocolate Fluff Filled Madeleine which is located on pages 170-171 in Baking: from My Home to Yours.

This month, since it is a new year, I am trying to get back on board with planning and baking my Tuesdays With Dorie recipes.  I was so close to making this on time, and then it fell through the cracks.  I was initially going to do the recipe as written, but then the idea of having Marshmallow Fluff leftover in the house struck me as a bad idea.   I thought that I could make hot chocolate with fluff on top to get rid of the leftovers, but then I realized my weird aversion to milk.  I want milk, but every time I drink it it make more saliva build up in my mouth which grosses me out.  I have come across this problem with a few things (most notably cold drinks)  since getting pregnant, which is annoying because I want to drink cold stuff so bad.

In the end I left out the filling, which was perfect because the recipe took less time and effort 🙂  The end product was a just a perfectly baked Chocolate Madeleine, soft in the inside with a nice chocolate flavor.  Like eating a small cake, perfect 🙂
